Sunflower

In the midst of the Cold War, Petra Kelly, the young charismatic co-founder of DIE GRÜNEN (Germany’s Green Party), becomes a leading figure and steers the party to unexpected success. In her private life her relationship with Gert Bastian, a much older former major general and party colleague, turns out to be a tragic liaison: he shoots Petra Kelly at the age of 44 before taking his own life.

The cinema feature film “Sunflower” focuses on the most significant twelve years of Petra Kelly’s life and takes a closer look at the exciting life and violent death of this outstanding pacifist politician and her inspiring and visionary legacy.
